BY WILL PINKSTON, THE PADUCAH SUN- Amid state efforts to curb prescription pain medication abuse, new polling data indicates as many as one in three Kentucky adults know of a friend or family member who has experienced problems resulting from the abuse of pain drugs.
The Kentucky Health Issues Poll, funded by the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky and the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, found additionally that more than half of Kentucky adults were prescribed such opioids in the past five years.
Senator Paul Performs Free Surgery at Paducah's Ambulatory Surgery Center
United States Senator Rand Paul visits with Dr. Laxmaiah Manchikanti, Ambulatory Surgery Center Medical Director, in March of 2012. Senator Paul was in town to perform free Ophthalmology surgeries in the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Dr. Laxmaiah Manchikanti, Medical Director of Pain Care Surgery of Marion, addressed concerns about the recent meningitis outbreak. Dr. Manchikanti says that the recent announcement by the CDC, related to a meningitis outbreak is not a cause for concern for patients of the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Paducah or the Pain Care Surgery of Marion.

Paducah Center -
The Pain Management Center is located in a 21,000 square foot building on Lone Oak Road as part of the Pain Management Pavilion, which also houses the Ambulatory Surgery Center and Paducah Physical Therapy. We plan and supervise all programs, tracking treatments, and handling case management. The Center is equipped with the most state-of-the-art equipment in this area. Physicians at the Center are specialists in interventional pain management with extensive training and experience.
Marion Center -
The Pain Management Center of Marion is located in a 6000 square foot building on Airway Drive, which also houses the Pain Care Surgery. We plan and supervise all programs, tracking treatments, and handling case management.

The Center's unique approach to managing your pain is based on medical and scientific principles and treatment. We work with you to relieve your pain and all the associated problems with it. We also treat your pain as the main problem, not simply as a symptom of another problem. Interventional pain management is the discipline of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of pain and related disorders with the application of interventional techniques in managing subacute, chronic, persistent, and intractable pain, independently or in conjunction with other modalities of treatments.
